EUTHANASIA - Laws in INDIA
Euthanasia is known as mercy killing in India. There usually exist 2 types of Euthanasia in India .
- ACTIVE EUTHANASIA
- PASSIVE EUTHANASIA
Active euthanasia is not at all acceptable in India. While laws in India are still in progress regarding passive euthanasia.
Active euthanasia remains a crime under SEC-302 (murder) or 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder ) of the Indian Penal Code.
PASSIVE EUTHANASIA IN INDIA
In Indian, the court's guidelines will restrict use of the practise to only extreme cases. The guidelines are legally binding until parliament passes law on the practise.
There still exist paper laws on Euthanasia in India. There are guidelines which people have to accept unless there is proper law on Euthanasia :-
The guideline stipulate that Passive Euthanasia will be allowed for patients who are in permanent vegetative states when family members request it, and courts and doctors approve it.
